Treatment Advice

Here we hope to help you when the time comes to treat your pond/koi

From time to time we have to treat our koi / ponds but before we can do this we need to know what the problem is, to do this we must first check our water parameters as ammonia, nitrite and ph swings can all effect our koi and the last thing we want to do is start throwing treatments into a pond when all that is wrong is the ammonia is high and needs bringing down.

Once we know all parameters  are ok the next thing we need to do is get a scrape done this will tell us what we are treating for, once again it is no good thinking you have costia and treat with potassium when really you have white spot, all you will have done is stress the koi more and knock the filters back, so where do we get a scrape done?

Most dealers will do this for you, if it is your local dealer and you buy your dry good/koi from him there should be no charge, if you don’t,  then expect a small charge of around £5, another option is to get in touch with your local koi club as they may have a member that lives nearby that will be only too happy to help, the other option is to go on to one of the many forums there are around and ask on there.
