from time to time the diaphragm's in you air pump may split and will need replacing, this will happen more often when a lot of back pressure is present this happens when you use only 2-3 airstones on 6 mm airline, one of the reasons we advise using either flat airstones or diffures using 3/8th and 1/2" air lines.
